Over the last decade the use of automated external defibrillators or A-E-D's have increased patient survival rates in public areas like airports and the workplace. As a result, AED's are also being used with the intention to increase survival rates for hospitalized patients who have cardiac arrest. A new study finds that using an A-E-D in a hospital setting was not associated with improved patient survival. Catherine Dolf has more in this week's JAMA Report.
